British International School of Casablanca

Curriculum

Within the Primary section of the school, we follow the Cambridge International Primary Curriculum for various subjects:

Art & Design

Students explore various artistic techniques and mediums, developing creativity and visual literacy through drawing, painting, and sculpture.

Digital Literacy (ICT)

Focuses on basic computer skills, internet safety, and introductory coding, preparing students for the digital world.

English

Enhances reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, fostering appreciation for literature and effective communication.

ESL

Supports non-native speakers in building English proficiency through targeted listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities.

Mathematics

Develops problem-solving and analytical skills through engaging activities in number systems, geometry, algebra, and data handling.

Music

Encourages exploration of music through singing, instruments, and listening, fostering creativity and cultural appreciation.

Physical Education

Promotes physical fitness and teamwork through various activities, encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

Science

Fosters curiosity and critical thinking with hands-on experiments in biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science.

Staff

Staff will also use their experience of the UK educational setting by blending in key areas of the National Curriculum (England) – this especially true in Year 6 as we prepare our students for life in The Secondary School.

ADDITIONAL SUBJECT AREAS

Given the importance of a wide and balanced curriculum, we also provide Humanities lessons, and for this, we follow the requirements of the National Curriculum (England).

Subjects include History, Geography and aspects of Global Perspectives curriculum. For French and Arabic, our curriculum is based on the requirements of the Moroccan National Curriculum. These are bespoke to the school and were approved by the ISI inspectorate in 2023.

Finally, the school will be introducing Robotics & Computer Coding as a stand-alone subject for the 2024 – 2025 academic period. This is especially exciting given the ever increasing importance of this subject in our rapidly changing World.
