The School House System

At BISC, our House system is an integral part of every school day. We have four Houses, each with its own Head of House. Their task is to motivate and enthuse the students within their respective House and play a full and active part in the inter-House competitions.

Our four Houses are:

Fostering Family Loyalty

The Importance of House Placement for Students and Staff

Every student and member of staff is placed in one of the Houses when they join school. Where possible, siblings are in the same House to foster a sense of family loyalty – and lessen tension on competition days!

Living the Vision

How the House System Inspires Students to Act, Aspire, and Achieve

At the very heart of the House System is our school vision ‘Act, Aspire, Achieve’.

Put simply, we want our young people to:

Engage in a diverse range of activities

Participate in healthy competition

Develop a sense of community cohesion

Show compassion for other people

Uniting Through Diversity

House Events at BISC Encourage Participation and Excellence Across All Phases

There are many House events throughout the year from all areas and across all phases of BISC. This blend ensures that everyone has the opportunity to represent their House in something that they enjoy
or are good at. For example, House events include sporting competitions, quizzes, academic activities and events designed and organised by our students.

All students have the opportunity to earn House points for their House; House Points are at the heart of our reward system. Points are awarded for things such as good work, contribution to lessons, community spirit and participation in House competitions. Students can also gain valuable House points every week for doing the right thing or going the extra mile.

Fierce but Fair

How Termly Competitions Cultivate Community and Excellence at BISC

Our termly competitions in both the Primary and Secondary School ensure this is kept at the forefront of everything we do and at the end of the academic year all House points are added up and one House wins the overall cup. Competition is always fierce, but fair and allows everyone to feel part of their own special community.
