British International School of Casablanca

Primary Overview

Our Primary School curriculum is organised according to the National Curriculum of England, Phase 1 and Phase 2

Each tutor group in the Primary School has their own dedicated classroom teacher who is responsible for the provision of Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities. These members of staff are UK trained nationals, holding the prerequisite experience and qualifications.

Subjects including Art, ICT, Modern Foreign Languages, Music and PE are delivered by specialist teachers, thus again ensuring the highest possible standards of education. Again, these members of staff hold the relevant teaching qualifications and experience commensurate with their position.

Teacher Profiles

Finally, all our classroom teachers are supported by a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants, many of whom have been at BISC for several years. Their linguistic skills and cultural awareness are invaluable in providing the necessary support for your child both inside and outside the classroom.

Academics Link

Core Academic Subject

At BISC we split subjects into Core / Non-core and this decides the amount of guided teaching hours each student will receive over the academic year. Core subjects are central to the curriculum and so must be studied by everyone. As we follow both the Cambridge Curriculum and National Curriculum (England) there are three core subjects:
  • Mathematics

  • English

  • Science

Non-core academic subject

Non-core academic subject areas encompass a wide range of subjects that fall outside the traditional core curriculum of Mathematics, English and Science. These subjects play a crucial role in developing well-rounded individuals by fostering creativity, practical skills, and personal development. Students will traditionally receive 2 lessons per week in the following subject areas:
  • Art and Design

  • Digital Literacy (ICT)

  • Humanities

  • Modern Foreign Languages (Arabic / French)

  • Music

  • Physical Education
